Встретил в одной сетевой дискуссии выражение to shuffle the cups в значении "вводить в заблуждение". Происхождение, скорее всего, от игры в наперстки, где так называются действия наперсточника.

Я думаю, наиболее адекватный перевод на русский будет "передергивать": жульнический прием в одной игре для ясности заменим жульническим приемом в другой.

Не знаю. Мне кажется "пердёргивать" это не совсем то. Я бы подумал о "пудрить мозги" или что-то в этом духе.

Найти в сети передергивающий компьютер очень просто. Надо зайти в бложег фрицморгена: по интеллекту он уже давно напоминает бота, а в передергивании он был мастак еще в бытность человеком.

А не "запутывать"? Передергивать -- прием жульнический, а shuffle the cups -- суть игры. (Жульничество там в том, что шарик вообще не под cups, а в руке.)
