Tossing a coin, perhaps, was more intellectually honest than thinking up a rational. But, in any case, that election was not really decided by the Supreme Court.
If you want to find a truly stolen US election, you would have to go back to 1876 (Hayes vs. Tilden). That one was truly a pretty baby. But that was a very different age indeed.
